Ladies, bag yourself a bargain before Christmas

It’s oh ho ho so easy to get caught up in the Christmas craziness… Tinsel, glitter, mince pies, shopping, presents, nights out. But Christmas is also about a lot more… (Don’t worry I’m not going to take a religious stance on this!) It’s also about time

spent with friends, loved ones and remembering what matters most – family.  Christmas is a time to cherish and acknowledge all of those day-to-day kindnesses we sometimes neglect to appreciate and a time when we really miss those we love if they cannot be with us…

It may seem like an unlikely present – it’s not something we like to think about

It may seem like an unlikely present, and it’s not something we often like to think about, but providing life insurance for your family in the event that something awful happens to you, could be the greatest gift of all. At the moment women typically pay 25% less than men for life insurance, so there is room for bargain hunting – even when it comes to life insurance.

From 21 December 2012 the Gender Directive states – women and men will pay the same prices for new life insurance plans.

However from 21 December 2012 onward, women and men will pay the same price for new life insurance plans. This upcoming change is a result of the Gender Directive (a European Court ruling) which states that having different prices for insurance plans based on gender is discriminatory and should not be allowed.  In future the cost of your life insurance will depend on your age, health and the level and type of cover alone, and not on your gender. The traditional difference women have enjoyed on life insurance plans compared to their male counterparts will disappear.

In the run up to Christmas women’s life insurance is 25% cheaper than their male counterparts.

Over the next few weeks in the run up to Christmas women will still have the opportunity to purchase their life insurance at prices that are 25% cheaper compared to their male counterparts. So ladies, if you have a family and you are thinking of taking out life insurance – bag yourself a bargain at the lower price and buy your cover before the Gender Directive comes into force on 21 December 2012.  Click here to get a quote for Life Insurance now.

It may be an unusual present, but it could be the one thing your family will appreciate the most.

To help you with the rest of your Christmas shopping, Irish Life are delighted to play secret Santa this year – with four €250 Smyths Toys Superstores vouchers to give away over the next 4 weeks (1 per week). Like us on Facebook to be the first to hear about our competitions and giveaways. Find out more.

Note: Under the Gender Directive the move to gender neutral pricing applies to new plans started after 21 December 2012. Once you start a plan such as term life insurance or mortgage protection before that date, your price is fixed for the term of the plan.
